## Technical summary

NICE guideline NG136, published 28 August 2019 and last updated 26 February 2026 on the pages fetched on 2026-10-11. The February 2026 update added recommendation 1.2.11, which offers healthy-living advice to people with raised blood pressure who are not diagnosed with hypertension. The Overview chapter says NICE is following ongoing research into how different ethnic groups respond to blood-pressure drugs and will decide whether to update the guideline. NICE has a separate guideline on hypertension in pregnancy. Recommendations tagged with 2019 are those NICE made in August 2019 after reviewing the evidence. NICE gives no strength label; it signals strength by verbs such as offer and consider. NICE says it does not write its content as a basis for decisions outside the United Kingdom. Reuse is licensed in the United Kingdom only; outside it, apart from private use, study or one's own research, NICE's written agreement is needed and may carry a licence and fee, and use for artificial intelligence needs approval and a licence arrangement. This atlas states NICE's recommendations in its own words, with a citation and a link, because of these reuse terms.
