Also called: CVD death

## In plain language

Death from heart or blood-vessel causes. In SPRINT it is one of the five kinds of event that made up the primary combined outcome.

## Technical summary

One of the five components of cardio:outcome-sprint-primary-composite, worded as the paper's Methods words it. The paper's main text gives no definition and points to its Supplementary Appendix, which this atlas has not read. It counts only deaths from cardiovascular causes, so it is not the same outcome as core:outcome-death-any-cause, which SPRINT reports separately. The registry's primary outcome measure calls it CVD Death, which is kept as an alias.
