## In plain language

A study in rural Bangladesh that compared 7 primary healthcare clinics using the HEARTS hypertension control package with 7 matched clinics giving usual hypertension care. Clinics were matched and not randomly assigned. 3935 adults with uncontrolled hypertension took part. At 6 months, blood pressure had fallen further and more people had their blood pressure under control in the HEARTS clinics, and fewer clinic visits were missed.

## Technical summary

Matched-pair cluster quasi-experimental trial (NCT04992039), registry allocation non-randomized, masking single, primary purpose health services research, phase not applicable. Lead sponsor National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh on the registry record. Registry dates: start 2021-10-09, primary completion 2021-12-31, completion 2022-08-12; the primary completion date is earlier than the 6-month follow-up the paper describes, and the two are not reconciled here. The paper (Heart, 2024) is open access under CC BY 4.0. Numbers are on the claim.
