## In plain language

The 2022 recommendation statement issued by the US Preventive Services Task Force on taking low-dose aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease in adults who do not already have it. Its advice differs by age: an individual decision for adults aged 40 to 59 at higher risk, and advice against starting at 60 or older. This statement updates its 2016 recommendation.

## Technical summary

JAMA 2022;327(16):1577-1584, doi 10.1001/jama.2022.4983, PMID 35471505. The USPSTF page dates the final statement April 26, 2022. Only the PubMed abstract and that date line were read. Grades as the abstract labels them: C for adults aged 40 to 59 whose 10-year risk is 10% or more (an individual decision) and D for adults 60 or older (against starting). The abstract says the Task Force also commissioned a modelling study of net benefit by age, sex and risk level; its results were not read. The USPSTF permits reuse of its work only under its copyright notice, so this atlas states the recommendations in its own words, with a citation and a link.
