## In plain language

The 2022 heart failure guideline from the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Failure Society of America. Its abstract says it replaces the 2013 guideline and the 2017 focused update, and that it gives patient-centered recommendations for preventing, diagnosing and managing heart failure. The page for the four-class regimen lists the four medicine classes that an ACC summary names, and the pages of two medicine classes carry the class 1a statements of the summary, because the guideline text was not read.
